Peter Dunlap-Shohl photoPeter Dunlap-Shohl, illustrator of the "The Parkinson's Pyramid®" and the "Little Neuron™", was diagnosed with PD in 2002 at the age of 43. Pete has worked as cartoonist for the Anchorage Daily News for nearly 25 years.  He produces four editorial cartoons per week, concentrating on local topics. He also created and oversees a local interactive political cartoon caption contest for which he draws one cartoon a week that readers complete by submitting captions*.  Dunlap-Shohl has won prizes from organizations including the Alaska Press Club, the Society of Newspaper Design, and the Society of Professional Journalists, which awarded him first place in its 2002 Northwest regional editorial cartoon competition.

You may visit an archive of his work at: http://editorialcartoonists.com/cartoon/browse.cfm/DunlaP. Peter has launched an illustrated general-interest Parkinson's blog. He welcomes visitors at: http://offandonakpdrag.blogspot.com

Bradyphrenia cartoonDunlap-Shohl has lived most of his life in Anchorage, surviving the largest earthquake ever recorded in North America, the Exxon Valdez oil spill, and sundry volcanic eruptions and moose charges. He lives in the foothills of the Chugach Mountains with his wife Pamela and son Wiley. Hobbies include biking, skiing, and playing the dobro -- although with PD he no longer does them simultaneously. He has recently started to explore the creation of short computer animations. A diagnosis of PD throws life into high relief. Every day you're still buttoning your own shirt is a good one," according to Pete. He is fortunate to have a wife who has a quarter century of experience putting up with bizarre behavior from her spouse.
